Popcorn Balls

  • 3/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup margarine or unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons cold water
  • 2 5/8 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 cup mini-marshmallows 
  • 5 quarts plain popped popcorn (in large mixing bowl)
  • Combine all ingredients except the popcorn in a saucepan or double boiler over medium heat.
  • Stir continually until the mixture comes to a boil. Remove from heat.
  • Carefully pour the mixture into the bowl of popcorn and stir gently with wooden spoon until each kernel is coated.
  • Grease hands with vegetable shortening or cooking oil and shape popcorn into balls. Work quickly before the mixture cools.
  • Wrap in cellophane or plastic wrap after balls cool.
  • Store at room temperature.
